The Pegasus PM-CIBU-130 module is a tiny, highly compact USB 3.0 interfacing and video capture solution for the recently available Sony FCB-MA130, an extremely small form factor (18x16 mm) 13 megapixel camera module.

Details
The CIBU-130 is engineered to take full advantage of the FCB-MA130’s compact size. Measuring at only 41.5 x20mm, the module allows creation of truly compact USB 3.0 camera systems with the FCB-MA130. The YCbCr 4:2:2 parallel data from the FCB-MA130 camera is received by the CIBU-130 and output to the USB 3.0 host computer formatted as UVC (USB Video Class) data packets. Thus transmitted video can be received by any USB 3.0 host, running Windows, Mac OS, or Linux. Single shot mode is available for full size, 13 megapixel images.
When streaming video, the FCB-MA130 can output 480p, 720p and 1080p at 30 frames per second, which can be reliably streamed to a USB 3.0 host by the CIBU-130. The camera itself can be controlled through the parameter controls provided by the UVC class, as well as through a separate USB Human Interface Device (HID) configuration channel allowing the full control of the capabilities of the FCB-MA130.
With the extremely compact size and easy installation, the CIBU-130 is the optimum solution for small form factor USB 3.0 cameras usable in various applications.
The CIBU-130 also includes nonvolatile storage allowing the storage of camera parameters. The CIBU-130 firmware can be updated in the field over the USB interface. The default setup provides 720p30 video streaming with the FCB-MA130 connected directly out of the box.
The CIBU-130 interfaces with the FCB-MA130’s parallel CMOS interface, which outputs various resolutions in YCbCr 4:2:2 data format. The camera is connected over a 45 pin, 0.5mm pitch FFC/FPC cable. USB 3.0 power is sufficient to power both the camera module and the CIBU-130, removing the need for a separate power supply. The CIBU-130 integrates all of the required voltage regulators required to power the FCB-MA130 camera module. Less than 30% of USB 3.0 provided power is used, which allows the remaining power budget to be used for illumination or other application-specific uses.
